About the Desert Biofuels Initiative

Locally-produced and locally-used biofuels can provide compelling environmental, social, political and economic benefits. Desert Biofuels Initiative is a Phoenix, Arizona-based non-profit social venture aimed at removing any practical and legal/regulatory obstacles that stand in the way of the development of a robust biofuels infrastructure in the Valley of the Sun. Our goal is to foster an environment where the local biofuels vision can flourish in the Phoenix area and throughout Arizona.

We also partner closely with our sister site, GreenIndependence.org, in an effort to promote our vision of sustainable regional biofuels globally.

Desert Biofuels Initiative was founded by Eric Johnson and Brad Biddle; Eric currently serves as operations director and Brad as policy director.  Sam West rounds out the core team and directs special projects for us.  Dave Conz is on our team of key advisors, and blogs with us on this site.  Mark Edwards is another key advisor and leads our sister site GreenIndependence.org.

Eric created a series of posts that describe how our effort came about. Our page at http://desertbiofuels.org provides an overview of our vision and goals.
